Generally in most clubs first aid is seen as something for river leaders to take care of and in general the same can be said for ours. In the coming months I'm hoping to organise a first aid course and I'm hoping to aim it at more than just river leaders. Anyone can help in a first aid situation and if you consider yourself someone who is actively involved in kayaking at any level in the club you should be able to help and even take charge in first aid scenarios. The course is well subsidised by the club so you won't find it for cheaper. Its a weekend long REC 3 qualification which is actually very interesting and very fun. I've done one before and plan on doing one again if we can get enough numbers. It's a fantastic life skill, outstanding on a cv and could legitimately come in use in otherwise dangerous situations
