Nuig/ Gmit Varsities 2015
It was a great weekend in Galway for the Intervarsity’s of 2015.
It all started on Friday with White-water on the Boluisce and Polo in the Claddagh Basin where each college battled it out for the top spot.
We did exceptional in both discipline’s coming second in white-water and third in polo which is the best result we have got in polo to date.
We enjoyed Friday night in Kelly’s.
What did Saturday have in store for us…? After a great night of banter, it was time to get ready for the Long-distance races.
Eoin Keyes and Mark Scanlon clenched first and second in the men’s gp.
Gavin Sheehan and Eoin Farrell came 2nd in the gp duo.
We then returned to the Claddagh Basin for the Free-style event. Andrew Regan was targeted in the ‘Banter League’ to be pelted with the biggest piece of fruit.
Although, he still managed to pull off some crafty moves and we ended up coming third.
In the evening, we dressed up for the Mexican themed party held in Victoria’s Hotel.
Sunday was Boater X day and a few of our members got to the semi-final and final.
Unfortunately, we did not get any further. We then moved onto Nuig for the overall results, waiting eagerly to see if we had done enough to secure the cup for the sixth time in a row.
We did it! We were very happy with the win, thanked the organisers and everyone who took part and celebrated our victory.
