It has come to my attention that there have been a number of instances over the Summer where people have been taking gear from both the pool and boathouse, without signing it out or telling anyone, and then using it on their own private kayaking trips. Some of the gear that has been used has been private and has been taken without the owners permission. Not only is all of this just bad form, it goes against the Safety Statement and will result in warnings and gear bans for repeated offenders.

If anyone is unaware of the Safety Statement and what it says about using club gear on private trips:
Definition of a personal club trip

ï‚· A club trip is any trip in which any club member uses club gear. The
member must meet the requirements outlined below. Failure to
comply with the policy equates to a failure in making the on spec trip
a club trip and therefore should not be using club equipment.

ï‚· Members must have the trip approved as a club trip by discussing the
trip with a core committee member. A list of core committee will be
available in the boathouse.
So if anyone would like to use any club gear of any kind on a trip, or you would like to organise an evening trip to CC for example with just a small group of people, at least 1 core committee member and another committee member must be made aware of the trip and all the gear must be signed out in the boathouse. The core committee members are:

Myself: 0877514733
Luke Kelly: 0872967436
Caoimhe Farrell: 0860581982
Emer Farrell : 0860704254
Caoilinn Doran: 0857324598

The rest of the committee:

Jack Phelan: 0863229783
Eoin Howard: 0879659787
Eoin Keyes: 0876637836
Sean Murphy: 0877930378
Cathal Ferris: 0876438725
Brian O Mahony: 0876090442
Eoin Farrell: 0876911523
Simon McCormack: 0872207163
And Mark Scanlon but don't expect a reply from him...

All you need to do is give us a text/Facebook message or phone call and just get the trip approved by one of us. It will take 30 seconds. I'm online 99% of the time so if you have any doubts, contact me. We don't want to stop anyone from kayaking but we also don't want any gear to go missing. Or people for that matter. If you go on a trip without telling anyone and something happens to you on the water, the outcome won't be good!

So please heed this message!
Sheep, like all wool-bearing animals, instinctively travel north, where it's colder, and they won't be so stuffy.
