Lads, massive congratulations and thanks to everyone who competed, there's some great results there! The girls especially, all of ye did unbelievably well, fair play! For a club with no juniors and no masters, who have mostly only been paddling for a maximum of four years, third place in that competition is a massive achievement.

I know some people might have been a little bit out of their comfort zone at some points over the weekend, but it's always good to try something new and get paddling some different types of boats. The competition in some of the events was ridiculus, the amount people competing in slalom and wildwater who either compete internationally for Ireland or used to paddle for Ireland is nuts. There's no way you can hope to compete with that when you've only been paddling for two or three years and don't train seriously. At the end of the day the results don't matter, I hope looking back on it everyone had a good weekend and enjoyed trying something new!

...even though I said results don't matter, looking at the results, I think next year we could go one better! Especially if it happens in Limerick, on home turf (ssh, don't tell anyone yet, but there's a good chance it will)
If we play the points game a bit better and spread people out between disciplines a bit more, and have people paddle in more than one category in disciplines like long distance like all the other clubs did, I think we could do one place better in the results next year.

I think we could realistically improve our results in all discipines, except possibly freestyle. It'll take a lot to knock Wildwater off the top spot but we can definatly take Galway!

...the time to start thinking about it for next year is now, never mind varsities, this is where the real competition is at!
