Advanced/Development trip ideas

Hey guys. As we know Covid-19 is going to have an effect on the progression of club members skill levels this year. This post is here if anyone has any ideas for trips (in Ireland or abroad) that they feel would be beneficial once we can get back on the water. These would be advanced trips aimed more towards leaders and seconds (this doesn't mean only current leaders and seconds, but hopefully will allow future leaders and seconds to progress as well) to bring up the teaching skills and group awareness skills as well as personal paddling and safety skills. Ideas for courses would be great as well if anyone has suggestions. Lets not allow the absence of an Alps trip impact our progression as a club and as paddlers. All ideas are welcome and we can also look at this as an opportunity to explore new trip ideas for the future. Thanks and keep on keeping on.

A Cave trip in Achill or somewhere similar would be fun and different. Could also get a surfing session in too since there are plenty of beaches nearby :D Plenty of options for accommodation/camping there too.

Wet West paddle Fest. Think it was a good step up for a fair few people last year, which is always good to do

A couple of days paddling down the Shannon would be really cool

This would be more geared towards development probably. I know we already technically went to galway with galway fest but they have a good few rivers that we could do like the bouluisce, owenriff or corrib that would benifit anyone wanting to do galway fest next year but would probably not be an advanced trip. Also could do a Donegal trip as they have a good mix of beginner and advanced rivers so the advanced paddlers could up skill if rivers were running and the other paddlers then join them a couple of days later or something. We could also run a trip to cork and do the upper bandon and sea kayaking for the not advanced paddlers like we were looking at for week 10. Then if the more advanced rivers like the flesk or roughty were running at that time, the advanced paddlers could move onto there themselves or go there before hand.
