As a perfect way to finish your Easter mid-term the kayak club will be spending the almost weekend from Thursday March 24th to Saturday March 26th in the 'People's Republic of Cork'. This of course is a weekend not be missed, being situated in Ireland's greatest county, and with banter guaranteed.

Somehow I don't think easter is a thing at work and as far as I know I need to book days of with something like 6 weeks of notice

Why not ask them instead of writing it off immediately?

I was told by one of the girls who works with me that you need more than a months notice unless it is an emergency on for something that will only be an hour or two like going to your doctor

We do know alps dates Patrick, as far as Im aware its the 16th May to the 8th June but give a look at the calender on the forum, it has all the details :D
