So I was doing some serious procrastination there a few weeks back and came across a thread from yonks back like 2003 i think. The thread was basically a challenge for people to try and learn a new trick on Gower.

Everyone would throw in like 2 euro and try to learn a new trick within their ability. The first few people to land their trick with witnesses wins the money.

For example if you can double pump your challenge would be to split wheel or loop.
If you cant double pump your challenge might be to cartwheel or just double pump.
If you can do most of the moves your challenge could be to try and do a move on your bad side.

If you can loop/ almost loop your challenge should be to Phonix Monkey or Flatwater McNasty.

The idea is to set yourself something that is not easily achievable but within your ability.

If you can double-pump don't say you want to challenge yourself to cartwheel. You're pretty much there already.

If you want to learn something ask someone who can already do the trick. This isn't a competition but an incentive for people to learn.

Personally I would like to learn how to Phonix Monkey, loop in hole and Blunt on a wave.

Great idea. I can help people to Phonix Monkey when I'm in the pool. Just let me know when I'm there.
Sheep, like all wool-bearing animals, instinctively travel north, where it's colder, and they won't be so stuffy.

This could also be extended to first years in the pool by teaching them stern squirts, rolls, hand-rolls.

So 2 Euro each lads?
I'll put it all together and we can get prizes for the winners or we could give it to charity? What do people think?
If you don't wanna give 2 euro you can still do the challenge.

Sam: Phonix Monkey
Caoimhe: Loop
P-Boi Bren-Dog: Cartwheel
Stevie O'Dea: SplitWheel
Cathal Ferris: 10 Second Bow- Stall and Loop from poolside
Conor Lowe: Phonix Monkey

There are definitely a few more people up for this challenge! It doesn't have to be a mad freestyle move, simply getting a hand roll, getting a backdeck roll, learning how to double pump or stern squirt, there's something for everyone out there!
If a few more people get in on this we'll have a more substantial amount of money and I'm all up for the winner donating to their charity of choice - it's such a win-win deal here lads, everyone should be getting in on it! :D
